Prepared in a Vedic Gurukul·
समर्पणSAMARPAN

Born of a living Vedic Gurukul

Worthy of
the offering

Yajñopavīta spun inside the Gurukul. Roli, Bhasma and Chandan chosen the way a priest would choose them. Because what is offered to the Divine must itself be fit to be offered.

Four principles

Nothing reaches your thali by accident

Every item in the Samarpan range passes through the same four questions before we are willing to put our name on it.

Shuddhata

Purity

No synthetic dye, brightener or filler, and no shortcuts. What is written on the label is what is inside the jar.

Pramanikta

Authenticity

Sourced and prepared the way the śāstra and the paramparā describe — not the way a factory finds convenient.

Paramparik Vidhi

Traditional Method

Our Yajñopavīta is hand-spun in the Gurukul at 96×4×2×3 aṅgula pramāṇa. The measure is not decorative.

Vishwas

Dependable Quality

Sealed, dated, dignified packaging — so that a purohit ordering for a temple gets exactly what he got last time.

Yajñopavīta

The Yajñopavīta

Not a thread. A saṃskāra.

Nine strands, three of three, each knotted by a brahmachārī who wears one himself. The Yajñopavīta carries discipline, responsibility and the unbroken continuity of the ṛṣi-paramparā. We make it inside the Gurukul because it should not be made anywhere else.

Our philosophy

Samarpan means offering. Dedication. Surrender.

It is the spirit with which a flower is placed before the Divine. The spirit with which a mantra is recited. The spirit with which a yajña is performed. Our symbol — open palms holding a lotus — says the whole of it: to receive with reverence, and to offer with devotion.

What you are actually buying

Four things we can say without hedging

Where it is made

Inside the Gurukul

The Yajñopavīta is hand-spun at Aadi Shankar Vedic Vidya Sansthan in Lucknow, by brahmachārīs who wear one themselves. Not sourced from a wholesaler and relabelled.

The measure

96 × 4 × 2 × 3 aṅgula

Cut and folded to the stated traditional pramāṇa, not to whatever length is convenient to produce. If the measure is the reason you are buying, that is the measure you receive.

What is in it

No synthetic dye or filler

The Roli is prepared from haldi by the traditional method, with no synthetic dye, brightener or filler added. The Bhasm is ash, milled fine, and nothing else.
